If the Overbridge Engine does not recognize your device on macOS, first follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you have the most recent version of Overbridge installed.
  2. Ensure your Elektron device has the latest OS version installed.
  3. Ensure your Elektron device has been set to Overbridge mode in SETTINGS > SYSTEM > USB CONFIG.
  4. Verify that the USB cable is securely and correctly connected to both the Elektron device and your computer. Connecting to a dedicated USB port is recommended.

In case the issue persists after following these steps, it is most likely that the Overbridge driver is still blocked in macOS Security & Privacy settings. Follow the instructions below to unblock the driver.

UNBLOCKING THE DRIVER (macOS 10.13 High Sierra to macOS 10.12 Monterey)

  1. Launch the Overbridge Engine. It typically starts automatically when your Mac starts up unless this has been manually disabled in the Overbridge Control Panel. Look for the Overbridge Engine icon (Elektron logo) in the macOS menu bar and click on it. If your Elektron device isn't visible in the Overbridge Engine interface, proceed with the following troubleshooting steps:
  2. Reboot your computer. This is important because the option to unblock a driver is only available for 30 minutes after the Elektron device has been connected. (Note: If you're using macOS 11 Big Sur or 12 Monterey, you don't need to do this step.)

  3. After rebooting, open 'System Preferences' and navigate to 'Security & Privacy'.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the 'Security & Privacy' section. Here, you'll likely find a notification stating that the Elektron driver is blocked and requires permission to run:

  5. Click the 'Allow' button to unblock the driver.

  6. Now, open your DAW and check if the Elektron device establishes a connection to the VST/AU/AAX Overbridge plugin. Alternatively, you can open the standalone version/s of the Overbridge plugin/s to verify the connection.

UNBLOCKING THE DRIVER (macOS 13 Ventura or later)

  1. When the Overbridge installation has finished, you should see a popup telling you that the Overbridge driver (system extension) was blocked. Click on Open System Settings in this popup, or choose Apple menu > System settings > Privacy & Security to get to where the driver can be allowed:

  2. Here, the Overbridge Engine should show up as blocked (see screenshot below). Click the Allow button to unblock the driver.

  3. After allowing the Overbridge driver, you should see a confirmation popup indicating that the Overbridge installation has been successful:

If the dialog box is still not showing or the allow button is not clickable it can be because of macOS security features that don't allow some software that can manipulate the mouse, keyboard clicks or screen sharing to be active. Examples of software that causes this behavior includes:

macOS Screen Sharing, Apple Remote Desktop, VNC, TeamViewer, MagicPrefs, BetterTouchTool, Synergy, Screens, Share Mouse

If you cant see the dialog box, try to uninstall this software.

Sometimes, some keyboards, mice, Wacom tablets or MIDI keyboards/devices might also need to be unplugged to solve this issue.
